Lake of the Isles is a lake in Minneapolis, Minnesota, connected to Cedar Lake and Bde Maka Ska. In winter it is used for ice skating and hockey and serves as the location of a New Year’s Eve celebration featuring roasted marshmallows and hot chocolate In the summer, the lake is popular for kayaking, canoeing, and paddleboarding. Surrounding the lake are beautiful walking and biking paths, providing a peaceful escape from the city. In 2018, the Minneapolis lake renamed Bde Maka Ska to honor the Dakota people who originally inhabited the area, adding to the rich history and cultural significance of the lake.
