Bde Maka Ska is the largest lake in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and part of the city’s Chain of Lakes. Surrounded by city park land and circled by bike and walking trails, it is popular for many outdoor activities. The lake has an area of 401 acres and a maximum depth of 87 feet. During the warmer months, Bde Maka Ska is a popular spot for swimming, paddleboarding, and fishing. In the winter, the lake freezes over and becomes a favorite location for ice skating and pond hockey. The lake is also home to the Swedish Cultural History Museum, which celebrates the rich heritage of the Swedish community in Minneapolis.
